Firefighters called to tackle Ashton-on-Ribble house fire

Firefighters have been called to a fire at a house in Ashton-on-Ribble.

Flames and smoke have been seen coming from the upstairs of a property in Shelley Road – towards where it meets Blackpool Road.

The fire began shortly after 7.30am on Thursday (30 May).

Emergency services have closed off part of Shelley Road while they deal with the fire – which was understood to be put out around 8.15am. Two people have been taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Three fire engines from Preston and Penwortham have attended a domestic premises in Shelley Road.

“Firefighters are currently on scene using four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a ventilation unit to extinguish the fire.”
