About Supercar Showtime and Derian House
Supercar Showtime is organised by the husband and wife team and Derian Community Ambassadors, Nick and Karen Isherwood, who live in Chorley with their two children.
Nick, Karen and everyone else involved in putting the event on is an unpaid volunteer and manage the commitment around their day jobs.
Nick said: “Supercar Showtime was first held in a pub car park in 2017. I had enjoyed the occasional supercar meeting with friends, but knew collectively we could do more to showcase amazing cars that often stay hidden away from the public eye, whilst at the same time creating an opportunity for owners to raise money for charity.
“We were amazed by the turnout to our first event and the funds raised. It was so well received we decided to move to a bigger venue and from there it has gone from strength to strength.
“In choosing a suitable charity we wanted to one playing a pivotal role in our local community and knowing about the incredible environment that Derian House creates for children and young adults with rare and complex needs, they seemed a perfect fit. You just never know what’s going to happen to you in life, and Derian House are there for families in their hour of need.”
Karen added: “We’re so fortunate to be supported by local and national businesses to help make this event possible and would like to thank Hoghton Tower for helping us to host our events, along with all of our volunteers, without whom the event would not be possible. It’s a great family day out, and an opportunity to make a positive difference to local families who need support from Derian House.”
Derian House Children’s Hospice provides respite, palliative and end of life care for babies, children and young adults aged between 0-25. The charity covers the whole of Lancashire, the South of Cumbria and Greater Manchester. The cost to provide these services in 2023 stood at £6m, and out of that the charity received less than 30 per cent from any statutory sources such as the NHS.
Mick Croskery, Fundraising Manager at Derian House, said: “We are so excited that Supercar Showtime is returning to Hoghton Tower in 2024. There is a huge team behind the scenes delivering this event to support our children and families – including Derian House Community Ambassadors Nick and Karen Isherwood.
“Through their amazing efforts over the previous five events, they have raised over £170,000 for our cause and I’m sure I can speak on behalf of all of our children and families when I pass on their gratitude. We are really looking forward to working alongside the Supercar Showtime team this year to deliver yet another amazing event for the community as well as raising much needed funds for the Hospice.”
