Crashes, cars seized and illegal number plates on busy M6 day in the sun

Police had a busy evening on the M6 around Preston as thousands headed out to enjoy the warmest weekend of the year so far.

Lancashire police noted the nature of several incidents they had to deal with just in a two hour period on the motorway on Saturday evening (11 May).

A BMW smashed into the central barrier in a one-vehicle collision. The car sustained a relatively small amount of damage. The driver of the car was reported for driving without due care.

Three cars were stopped for travelling with illegal plates, one of which was had no MOT.

And a Mercedes Benz car was seized after its driver was found to be travelling with only a provisional licence.

The warm weather is expected to continue through Sunday morning before a weather warning for thunderstorms will be in place in the afternoon.
