Motorists on the M6 near Preston are being warned of severe delays.

A crash involving a number of vehicles took place shortly after 4pm on Sunday (19 May).

National Highways North West say there are delays of up to 90 minutes on the M6 southbound.

The crash took place between Junction 32 (Broughton and M55) and Junction 31 A (southbound entry only at Fulwood).

Two of four lanes are shut and there’s six miles of congestion as of 4.45pm on Sunday.

Traffic England is showing delays back to Junction 34 (Lancaster) as day-trippers and holidaymakers try to make their back from the Lake District and Blackpool.

The M55 eastbound is also being affected with long delays back from the Broughton roundabout.

All lanes were re-opened on the M6 southbound around 5.30pm on Sunday but delays are expected until around 8pm on Sunday evening.

Preston Police confirmed it was a ‘damage-only collision’ with two cars involved.
