Three decades of Rock FM being said on air came to an end this week.
The radio station is one of dozens across the UK to lose its locally recognised name as part of a major shake-up.
Hits Radio Lancashire is the new name for the station which remains broadcasting on 97.4 FM.

The final day of broadcasting as Rock FM was on Tuesday 16 April. The commercial radio station first broadcast in June 1990 after taking over from forerunner Red Rose Radio.
In a statement in January announcing the changes, Baeur said: “It’s a new era for us here at Rock FM as we announce that we will be rebranding to Hits Radio Lancashire this April. We’ll still be the same station you know and love, with a new name that better reflects where we are and the music we play.
“You will still be able to access all your local news and information, including traffic and travel, and our much-loved breakfast host Joel and new co-host Leanne, will be on air as usual when you wake up every weekday morning from 6am.”
The station used to broadcast from studios in a former Church – known locally as ‘the Rock FM church’ – on Ringway but has broadcast from Manchester studios since February 2020.
