The Harris road closures have started triggering bus diversions around Preston city centre.
Essential work at The Harris as part of its major restoration is causing roadworks between Monday 29 April to Friday 10 May.
Preston City Council announced that a section of Lancaster Road in Preston city centre will be closed temporarily but may reopen early if work is completed quicker than expected. Lancaster Road outside the Guild Hall is effectively pedestrianised while the works take place.
A map of the works shows that Earl Street is open as usual but there is no access to Church Street/Fishergate from Lancaster Road. The left turn onto Lancaster Road leading to Ormskirk Road and Ringway will be temporarily reinstated while roadworks are ongoing.
Preston Bus has announced diversions to a number of services as a road closure kicks in on a key city route.
Preston Bus said services 6, 8, 19, 44 and 100 are impacted by diversions. School services and Myerscough College services are also being affected.
A spokesperson said: “6,8,19,100 Farringdon and school services will have to exit the Bus Station via the back gate onto Carlisle Street and turn right onto Pole Street.
“At the junction turn right onto Lords Walk and continue past the Blitz bar onto Church Walk.
“At the end of Church Walk turn left onto Church Street to continue normal route.
“Service 44, 100 Larches and Myerscough College will have to exit the Bus Station as normal onto Tithebarn Street. Turn right into Old Vicarage and then right onto Lancaster Road and continue into Ringway. Continue down Ringway onto Corporation Street to continue normal route past the train station.”
