A woman from Preston is set to open a new Caribbean takeaway in the city.

Sawse Kitchen is opening a new premises, based on Strand Road, after owner Priya Chauhan from Broughton, started a food business which has grown over the past five years.

Sawse Kitchen started in 2019 and has since been based around various pubs in the city, with fresh food being cooked from start to finish.

The food, Caribbean and soul with Indian influences, are based on the owner, Priya’s own recipes and a ‘love of food and a life-long passion for experimental cooking’.

She said: “Looking at my hometown’s food scene I realised it’s slightly lacking with something exciting and with the dislike of chains and fast food I wanted to open something of my own.

“So, the passion for cooking and the love of food is at the heart of Sawse Kitchen and this is what I want to share with everyone.”

The vision is to create exciting and vibrant dishes, infusing flavours from around the world and combining the recipes Priya has created and tried over the years.

She added: “The idea is simple but the food is anything but – flavour-some, tasty, fusion dishes from one place in one box. And how it tastes is far more important to us than how it looks.

“We use the freshest ingredients, make our marinades and sauces from scratch and the whole process is completed by us. We hope you love it as much as we do.”

The takeaway will open on 5 April and you can find more information on Sawse Kitchen’s Instagram page.
