Preston man arrested after death of grandmother-to-be on M6

A Preston man was arrested after the death of a grandmother-to-be on the M6.

Police were called to reports of a concern for the safety of a woman on the M6 between junction 21 and 21a at around 12.15am on Tuesday (9 April) .

Officers from Cheshire Police attended the scene and found Lisa Kelsall, 52, of Stoke-on-Trent, had been struck by a white Citroen Relay van on the M62 slip road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van, a 47-year-old man from Preston, failed to stop at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation.

Lisa’s family said in a statement issued by Cheshire Police: “A loving daughter, mother and grandmother to be, taken too soon. RIP Lisa Kelsall. Forever in our hearts.”

Police are now appealing to anyone who may have dashcam footage, witnessed the collision or saw Lisa’s car, a white Vauxhall Mokka, traveling northbound on the M6 from Staffordshire toward Cheshire prior to the incident between 11.30pm on 8 April and midnight of 9 April, to get in touch.

Anyone with any information is urged report it to Cheshire Police quoting IML-1796179 via the Cheshire Police website or call 101.
