Police have confirmed the M6 is shut at Junction 32 northbound after a person was hit by a car.
The closure, which began shortly before 4pm on Tuesday (23 April), is seeing gridlock on the M6 and across Preston.
A police spokesperson told Blog Preston: “We were called to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle on the M6 Northbound at Junction 32.
“The carriageway is currently closed. We’d ask you to avoid the area, and will bring you an update when we are able.”
Traffic England is reporting the closure is expected until at least 7.30pm this evening. The M6 reopened fully at 7.48pm.
