A new community centre in Hoghton opened its doors last month.

Gregson Lane Community Centre, located off Gregson Lane was opened by two residents, Phyl Barnes and Pauline Thompson who were guests of honour, cutting the ribbon and welcoming guests.

Over 50 people joined community groups and local VIPs in the celebrations on Saturday 23 March.

Jacqui Gibson, Gregson Green’s Chairperson said: “It’s exciting to see the centre come to life as a much-needed community space that brings people together and we’re ready to welcome local residents, community groups and organisations to book one of our rooms.

“The new centre build wouldn’t have been possible without the tenacity and fundraising from local residents, supporters, and a grant from South Ribble Borough Council.

“Special thanks to the Mayor of South Ribble Borough Council and local Councillors for joining us on the day.”

The new project was completed thanks to money for residents, businesses, supporters of Gregson Green events and a grant from South Ribble Borough Council.

The community centre is now busy preparing for their annual events, including their family-friendly Gala day in summer and their popular wine and cheese evenings.
