The signs on Strand Road have now been updated after years of being incorrect.

New signs which say West Strand are now in place on the incorrectly named part which lies between Watery Lane and the Marsh Road flyover.

It’s not known how long the wrong sign has been in place in Ashton-on-Ribble, but it’s thought to be years.

Preston City Council confirmed in October 2023 that the section would be receiving a new sign, where the correct name of West Strand is now in place.

A city council spokesperson said at the time: “Nobody has raised the issue previously, if they had, we would have corrected the matter sooner.

“We are acting as quick as we can now that it has been brought to our attention.”

Strand Road still exists between the flyover and Fishergate Hill.
