The people of Preston have reacted to the ‘absolutely atrocious’ roads after Lancashire County Council announced that they will only be resurfacing five roads across Preston.
The county council has laid out the 88 road resurfacing schemes they plan to carry out over the next year across the whole of the county.
Of the 88, five are in Preston, five are in Chorley and ten are in South Ribble.

Preston locals got even deeper than the potholes in discussion when we asked for their thoughts on this matter.
“I’m pretty sure the potholes on London Road can be seen from space” said Ron Hetherington.
Susan Carr said: “The roads are absolutely atrocious. I have lost one tyre, I now have to drive so slowly to avoid huge pot holes. They are not just pot holes they are so deep I could not possibly ride my bike.”
On Mulgrave Avenue, in Ashton-on-Ribble, a plant was stuck in the road due to a pot hole.
Dave Pemberton noticed this and said that no matter where you drive in Preston, the roads are appalling.
He said: “It seems like 80 per cent of roads in Preston are in need of proper repairs. This just throwing tarmac in and whacking down seems a total waste of time and money.”

The five roads in Preston getting resurfaced are Longsight Road, Sandygate Lane, Grizedale Crescent, Lightfoot Lane and a section of the A6 Garstang Road.
Blog Preston readers listed Pedders Lane, Strand Road and Lancaster Gate as additional roads which the council should be looking to repair.
Patrick Sinclair said: “Lancaster Gate at the junction with Broadfield Drive. I went down a hole there yesterday and I’m still falling.”
Lancashire County Council has said the road network is experiencing challenges with potholes due to an ‘unprecedented wet winter’.
