A man has been arrested after attacked a motorist with a hammer on M61 during Wednesday (20 March) morning.

Police received calls that a motorist was being attacked before attending the scene.

The victim was found safe and well and stated that he had been attacked with a hammer following a car crash.

The offender was arrested on the M61 – and there were delays on the M6 slip road joining the M61 before Junction 30.
