A woman was taken to hospital after a four-vehicle crash on the M6 last night.

The M6 was closed for several hours last night (February 17) after reports of the crash, which happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 32 and 33. Police were called to the incident at around 7.41pm and the motorway reopened at around 11pm.

Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service were also called to the scene.

Police confirmed this morning that there had been a road traffic collision and a woman was taken to hospital as a result.

They said she had minor injuries. Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said that cutting tools had to be used to free the casualty after a four-vehicle crash and they were in attendance for one-hour fifty minutes.
