A Holi colour run is set to celebrate the arrival of spring at Cuerden Valley Park.
The park team has joined forces with the Gujarat Hindu Society Preston to host and organise the event, which will have a special nature-themed twist.
One of the organisers, Krishna Mistry, said: “Colour runs are a huge celebration in the Hindu faith and Indian culture, however, this one is unique in that we’re promoting the environment.
“Cuerden Valley Park grows wildflower meadows to keep the nature reserve alive for the animals that reside there. During the colour run participants will throw community-made seed bombs to promote growth.
“Therefore – in addition to the eco-friendly colour that will be thrown – our runners will also have the opportunity to enhance nature, which is key to our Holi colour run.
“Holi itself is a prominent Hindu festival that welcomes spring and embodies good things to come our way, and so it works hand-in-hand with the point of this event.”

The event is taking place on Sunday 10 March from 10am.
Participants can run, jog or walk the 2km course, which will have several colour stations along the way.
The Gujarat Hindu Society will be there to give a flavour of Holi and Indian culture through ethnic food, crafts, music, and dance performances.
