Festivals of all sizes for people in Preston to have in the calendar this summer

Festival season is almost upon us and many are well underway with announcing their line-up.

From the thousands of Prestonians who head to the Lowther Deer Park for Kendal Calling, to the hundreds who cram into the UK’s original indoor turfed festival at The Ferret, we’ve got you covered for all budgets, moods, weathers, shapes and sizes.

We’ve looked here at the festivals happening this summer in Preston – and the ones a little further afield that we know are super popular with people in the city.

Here’s a look at 2024’s events:

Preston Bank Holiday Weekender

Saturday 4 May – Sunday 5 May

Headliners – From The Jam, Evil Blizzard, Space, Buzzcocks

A much-awaited two-day event happening on the Flag Market in Preston. Saturday will focus on 90s dance music while Sunday will see a mix of old school punk and indie classics and strong local favourites.

Kendal Calling

Friday 2 August – Sunday 4 August 2024

Headliners – Paolo Nutini, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Streets, Paul Heaton with Rianne Downey, Keane, Sugababes, Declan McKenna, The Reytons

Kendall Calling is set to return to Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District.

Those attending can expect plenty of music icons as well as other activities such as movie nights, comedy shows and dress-up themes.

Lytham Festival

Wednesday 3 July – Sunday 7 July 2024

Headliners – Shania Twain, Rag’N’Bone Man, Hozier, Courteeners, The Kooks, Madness, Rick Astley.

Lytham Festival will return on Wednesday 3 July, 2024 and will have global stars such as Shania Twain taking to the stage.

You can either buy day tickets or weekend tickets – but it’s worth noting there’s no camping option at Lytham Festival so if one act catches your eye – that might be the one for you.

Highest Point

Friday 10 May – Saturday 11 May 2024

Headliners – Tom Odell, Busted, Cat Burns, Sam Ryder, Caity Baser

Highest Point will host stars such as Tom Odell and Busted at the 2024 event.

Taking place at Lancaster’s Williamson Park, the festival will take place over two days and those who attend are in for a treat with a jam-packed schedule.

Thursday 18 July – Sunday 21 July 2024

Announced so far – Denis Sulta, LF System, Sarah Story (Thursday line-up only released)

Beat-Herder festival is aimed squarely at fans of all things dance music.

The event takes place in Ribble Valley and has been running since 2006.

Music In The Park

Sunday 26 May, 2024

Headliners – Billy Ocean, Jason Donovan, Heather Small

Music In The Park is a one-day event in Leyland and the 2024 line-up is filled with well-known acts.

Those on the list include Billy Ocean, Heather Small, Jason Donovan, Katrina, Toyah, Sonia, Pat Sharp and more.

Saturday 29 June – Sunday 30 June, 2024

Headliners – (Tribute acts) Metal Militia, Fleetwood Bach, Queensque, AC/DC Experience, The Phonics, Mordenstein and more.

Rockprest is a tribute festival which takes place in Moor Park each year.

Multiple tribute acts comes to perform in the two day event, with more than 30 bands and performers coming to the festival.

The Lancashire Festival

Saturday 27 July, 11am-9pm

A family-friendly festival taking place in Avenham and Miller Park with music, food and children’s entertainment amongst many other fun-filled activities.

August 2024 – TBC

Headliners – TBC but expect up-and-coming regional favourites and local stars.

Glastonferret takes place at The Ferret in Preston City Centre and rolls a full weekend.

Multiple acts will take to the stage in the summer event which famously sees turf laid in the pub, hay bales spread throughout and more. Love the sound of a festival but hate the rain and camping? This is the one for you.

Jazzin in the Park

In 2023, Winckley Square, helped by The Preston Jazz & Improvisation Festival, hosted Jazzin in the Park. They had beautiful weather, beautiful music and a beautiful setting.

Little is known about the plans for 2024 – other than that after 2023 they planned to be back.

Windrush 76

Sunday 23 June

Line-up TBC

The Windrush 76 Festival will be held on Sunday 23 June and will feature a jammed packed schedule of live entertainment throughout the day. 

Organised by Windrush Initiatives CIC, a community interest company, the festival will bring all the colour, good vibes, music, singing, dancing, food and fun from the Caribbean, celebrating the city’s African-Caribbean and mixed-race communities.
