Signage and road markings have begun to appear ahead of Preston city centre’s latest bus-only lane being put in place.
A section of Corporation Street, from Marsh Lane to Heatley Street is to have a bus gate installed.
The bus lane, which can also be used by taxis and cyclists, will operate 24-hours-a-day.

No date has been given by Lancashire County Council for when the Corporation Street bus gate will come into force with county hall only saying it will be ‘switched on later this year’.
The fixed penalty notice for driving in a bus lane is £70, which is reduced to £35 if paid within 21 days of the notice being served.
Cabinet member for highways and transport at Lancashire County Council county councillor Rupert Swarbrick said: “People may have noticed that markings and some signage have gone in ahead of the changes being made to Corporation Street later this year.
“Once this bus gate becomes operational, all car parks will still be accessible, but the routes may be slightly different to reach them.
“Nothing is changing for now and we will let people know in plenty of time, so that people will have more details about it and how it may affect their journey.”

A map released by the county council shows how the road layout between the Adelphi Square and the Ringway will now look once the new bus gate is live.
The changes to Corporation Street follow the pedestrianisation of Friargate – with the Friargate North scheme still being finished off by the county council, to the frustration of traders on the street who have now endured years of roadworks frustration.
