Two teenagers have been charged after an incident on New Year’s Eve that triggered a significant police response.
Officers from Lancashire Constabulary were called to the Spar on Sandringham Road, Walton-le-Dale, at 5.48pm on December 31.
At the scene of the incident, police found that a teenager had been assaulted and arrested two 17-year-old boys.

One boy has been charged with common assault, possession of a knife/pointed article in a public place, criminal damage and using threatening behaviour. The other has been charged with possession of a knife/pointed article in a public place, criminal damage and common assault.
A spokesperson for police said: “We were called to Sandringham Road, Walton-le-Dale, at 5.48pm on December 31, to a report of an assault. Our officers attended and found that a teenager had been assaulted. Two 17-year-old boys were later arrested.
“A 17-year-old boy has been charged with common assault, possession of a knife/pointed article in a public place, criminal damage and using threatening behaviour. A second 17-year-old boy has been charged with possession of a knife/pointed article in a public place, criminal damage and common assault.”
Police confirmed that both have been bailed to appear at Preston Youth Court on January 16.
