A popular TikTok duo, with over three million followers combined, visited Preston’s Flag Market last week to review The Spud Brothers hot potato tram.

Ollie Ball and Jacob Pasquill, from Bolton, both became social media stars in 2021, after making a comedy series on the app, named ‘chuck it or scran it’ where they reviewed food and drinks.

The duo’s most recent video has seen them collaborate with The Spud Brothers, from Preston who have also gained a large following on the platform, with over half a million followers.

Ollie both dug into a cheese and bean potato with garlic butter, whilst Jacob tried the chilli and cheese. In one of the videos they both try the food, describing it as “unbelievable” and “a scran it.”

On The Spud Brothers TikTok page, Jacob and Ollie had some spud training, a tutorial of how the brothers make the famous, Preston potatoes.

The lads are walked through the variety of ingredients including tuna, beans, coleslaw, and chicken curry and were also introduced to parched peas – a Preston delicacy.

In the third video, a huge queue can be seen from the potato van in the Flag Market, with Ollie and Jacob up front and ordering, with their total coming to £100 for two jacket potatoes – a joke with The Spud Brothers.

The brothers’ TikTok page is also growing fast, they film videos about working on the van, how to keep happy customers and even give away free food sometimes – one of their most popular videos has almost 20 million views.

They said they are “Aiming to inspire creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in the next generation, using a spud van and social media.”

The tram has been part of Preston’s culture since 1955 and is now owned by Tony Nelson and his family who have introduced it to the modern age.

The Spud Brothers are open Monday – Saturday, on the Flag Market where they livestream on TikTok from their hot potato tram.
