A Preston city centre church has been targeted by thieves.
Anglican church St George the Martyr just off Lune Street in George’s Road has been damaged during a break-in.
The donation box, located at the back of the church which is grade-II listed, had money taken from it during the break-in which took place overnight between Friday 12 January and Saturday (13 January).

A spokesperson for the church said: “It’s so discouraging to see a mindless act of vandalism such as this. We’re not a rich church flush with people. We operate largely hand to mouth through generous giving from the small and committed congregation. Our parish is in a designated area of deprivation and we work hard to try and make a difference in the city centre.
“We shan’t allow this to divert our energies. We will continue our work to the most needy and disadvantaged in Preston for that is what we’re called to do and it must continue.”
