A man was found driving the wrong way down a motorway carriageway while significantly over-the-limit with four unrestrained children in the car.
The man, 39, from Preston, gave a reading of 84mg against the legal limit of 35mg before being arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
Police had brought the car to a stop safely near junction 4 of the M55. They discovered three adult passengers and four unrestrained children inside the car.

A spokesperson for police said: “A man has been bailed after our Roads Policing officers were met with a vehicle driving the wrong way on the motorway.
“Officers brought the car to a stop safely near junction 4 of the M55, and a 39-year-old man from Preston was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after giving a reading of 84mg at the roadside – nearly three times the legal limit of 35mg.
“Officers also discovered that there were three adult passengers and four unrestrained young children inside the vehicle. All passengers were driven to a place of safety off the motorway and all welfare and appropriate child referral agency needs have been put in place.”
