Homelessness charity Emmaus Preston is giving away a brand new chest freezer and Iceland voucher to a family in need before Christmas.
Emmaus Preston provides a home, support and meaningful work for up to 26 people with experience of homelessness in Preston.
To acknowledge the local support received by Emmaus, both from customers at its three charity shops and dedicated volunteers, people supported by the charity decided they wanted to give something back.
Emmaus Preston Director Stephen Buchanan said: “As a charity providing a home to people who have lost theirs, we’re sadly all too familiar with the results of the rising cost of living and pressures to pay the bills.
“To help one Preston family have a happier Christmas, charity beneficiaries have teamed up with the neighbours of our charity shop on Lowthian Street by Preston Markets – Iceland – to give away a 198-litre chest freezer and a £100 Iceland voucher for food.”

To nominate a family to win the freezer and groceries, email giveaway@emmauspreston.org.uk no later than Friday 15 December. Include the person’s name, their address, contact telephone number, and explain in 200 words or less why you believe they should receive this Christmas surprise.
Emmaus will announce the winner of the chest freezer and Iceland groceries at a special Christmas event at Emmaus Preston Fishergate Furniture Charity Store in Fishergate on Monday 18 December from 11am.
Stephen added: “We’re putting on free soft drinks and mince pies at our in-store Christmas event, which is open to anyone who would like to find out more about how Emmaus works together to support people in need in Preston.”
