A man was killed in a collision on the M61 last night, it has been confirmed.
Police were called to an incident at around 10pm (December 12) on the M61 northbound close to Rivington Services after a pedestrian was involved in a collision with a DAF truck.
It has now been confirmed that a man in his 40s was killed in the incident. Police are appealing for any information or footage from around the time of the incident.

The M61 was closed for around seven hours overnight between junction 6 and junction 8. The carriageway reopened fully at around 5.30am this morning (December 13).
A spokesperson for police said: “The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, died at the scene. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
“We are appealing to anyone who saw the collision itself or a man on the hard shoulder at around that time to get in touch. We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have any dashcam footage.”
