Plungington Co-op has closed and will be replaced by a Nisa.

The store in Plungington Road has been stripped and emptied, ready for the new operator.

A Co-op spokesperson confirmed the store had been sold, and told Blog Preston: “Safeguarding local jobs is a priority and colleagues will transfer to the new operator under TUPE regulations.”

Nisa operates as part of Co-op’s wholesale arm after Co-op purchased Nisa in 2018.

Stores are all independently owned and operated but receive wholesale goods from Nisa. While some Nisa stores take on the Nisa fascia, some choose an independent look.

A spokesperson for Nisa said the store should “open again soon” but was unable to confirm a date.
