A driver was taken to hospital after a collision with a lamppost saw a vehicle sustain serious damage.
The crash, reported by police at around 10.45pm last night (December 3), happened on London Way between Walton-le-Dale, Bamber Bridge and Lostock Hall. The driver of the vehicle provided a sample to police that was over double the drink drive limit.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A spokesperson for police said: “There was a road traffic collision on London Way, Preston. Vehicle collides with a lamp post before coming to rest in the carriageway.
“Driver provides a sample which is double the drink drive limit. He suffered minor injuries which will require treatment. A hospital blood alcohol procedure will be undertaken.”
Police have been targeting drink and drug drivers in the run up to Christmas as part of OpLimit.
This weekend saw a checkpoint set up close to Chorley to test drivers at the roadside, as well as an incident near Longridge on Sunday afternoon (December 3). In that incident, a vehicle with two people inside had been driven into a hedge. Both drivers were three times over the limit, but neither would admit to driving, police said.
