A number of businesses in Preston have been affected by a power cut today.

The power cut was reportedly caused by an issue with ‘underground cables’ and has been described as an unexpected incident.

Electricity North West are on site attempting to resolve the issue, which was first reported just before 9am this morning (December 21).

They have estimated that power will return to the businesses at around 12.30pm today.

In a message to customers, Electricity North West said: “This power cut has been caused by an unexpected incident with the underground cable that provides electricity to your home or business.

“We didn’t know before your electricity went off that this was going to happen but now we know, rest assured we will get your power back on safely and as quickly as possible.”
