M6 closed in both directions near Chorley due to police incident

The M6 is closed in both directions with ‘severe’ delays due to an ongoing incident.

Police closed the M6 between junctions 27 and 28 due to the incident. There are significant delays and queuing traffic as a result of the closure.

Police have not yet released further details regarding the incident. Police first reported the incident at around 11.40am today (November 7).

A spokesperson for Lancashire police said: “Please be aware the M6 Motorway is currently closed between Junctions 27 and 28 in both directions (north and southbound) due to an ongoing incident. Please avoid the area where possible.”

Police have said that the incident is not a risk to the wider public.
