In partnership with the organisers of the Christmas Lights Switch On, Preston BID, we are seeking nominations for a Proud Prestonian to switch on the city’s 2023 Christmas lights.

The free Switch On event takes place on the Flag Market on Saturday 18 November from 5.30pm, and will feature a packed show with a number of celebrities.

The Switch On Star winner will be invited on stage to speak to the event’s presenters in front of a huge home crowd, before helping to light up their city.

Nominations are open for Prestonians who have done some amazing things during 2023. We want to celebrate someone who’s a great community champion, and flies the flag for Preston. 

Last year’s competition was won by Georgette Jones, who was nominated for her ‘selfless and inspirational’ dedication to the homeless community.

Nominations close on Wednesday 8 November. Please ask permission from the person you are nominating, as they must be available to attend the event.
