Halloween will soon be here and we asked Blog Preston readers where their favourite places are near the city to go pumpkin picking.
In amongst the sarcastic responses about buying one from the supermarket there’s a few places to head to if you want to take the kids and get them to choose their own pumpkin.

Mrs Dowsons Farm. On the A59 just beyond Samlesbury, you need to book. It’s £11.95 for adults and £12.95 per child and that includes one pumpkin and admission to the farm park itself. More details.
Bradshaws Farm Shop and Garden Centre. Up the A6, at Garstang, Again there’s a request to book in advance for a 45-minute time slot. You have your pumpkins and squash weighed and pay for what you have picked. Each booking is per vehicle, not per person and there’s a £2.50 booking fee per vehicle. More details.
Clarks Family Farm. New for this year at Spar House Farm, Lewth Lane in Woodplumpton there’s free entry and then pay for pumpkins based on size. It’s open on weekends of 14-15 October, 21-22 October and 28-29 October from 10am to 4pm with last entry at 3.30pm. More details on the Facebook page.
Croston Pumpkin Patch. Open weekends in October – 7/8 October, 14/15 October, 21/22 October and then all of half-term week 23-29 October. Open from 9am to 5pm. It’s at Culshaws Farm, Holker Lane, Leyland, PR26 8LL and there’s more details on their Facebook page.
Paul’s Farm Pumpkin Patch, Leyland. Open on October 14,15,21,22,28 and 29 October from 10am to 4pm. It’s on Dunkirk Lane, Leyland. More details.
