Preston flood warnings withdrawn as mini heatwave arrives

All the flood warnings and alerts affecting the River Ribble at Preston have been withdrawn.

Heavy rain throughout the week and particularly from Thursday evening into Friday morning saw the Ribble burst its banks at Ribchester, Samlesbury and Walton-le-Dale.

The Environment Agency on Saturday (7 October) withdrew all flood warnings for the area as river levels fell rapidly.

A number of roads became inaccessible due to flood water with Lancashire County Council closing them off.

A warm and dry weekend is expected for the city with temperatures reaching the low 20 degrees – unseasonably warm for this time of year.
