A Penwortham high school has received an award for two decades of art, culture and creativity in the school.
The Artsmark Award was given to Penwortham Girls’ High School due to the creative quality standard within the school.
The award is accredited by Arts Council England and in order to qualify the school needed to develop their arts and culture provision to embed a broad and ambitious curriculum.

The Artsmark assessor commended Penwortham Girls’ High School on the Arts qualifications they offer including a wider range of Arts GCSEs, Bronze Arts Award for all Year 7s and LAMDA qualification for Year 8 students.
Headteacher Karen Pomeroy said: We’re extremely proud of achieving our Platinum Artsmark Award; The highest possible accolade to be awarded by the Arts Council. We are committed to delivering a high-quality arts and cultural education here at Penwortham Girls’ which will prepare our students for their future.”
Dr Darren Henley CBE, Chief Executive of the Arts Council, said: “I would like to congratulate Penwortham Girls’ High School on their Artsmark Award. Becoming an Artsmark school demonstrates that through offering a broad, ambitious, and creative curriculum, every student can develop character and resilience, increasing their knowledge, curiosity and skills that will remain with them through to adult life.”
