An entrepreneurial 11-year-old boy has raised funds for Rosemere after losing both his grandparents to cancer.

A year 7 pupil at Broughton High School, Will Rainford has dealt with cancer running through his family.

He set up a shop in the family garden shed in Woodplumpton stocked with his own range of hand-made craft items, sunflower seeds and he’s also hosted two garden parties.

Will’s raised £416.61 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation and chose the charity after losing his maternal grandparents Brian and Elizabeth Neild.

Brian died in May 2017 from prostate cancer and just six weeks later his grandmother was diagnosed with terminal cancer in her bones, lungs, brain and lymph nodes. She died in May 2018.

Will’s mother Claire, who was treated for melanoma in 2020, said: “I cared for my mum for nine months
before it became impossible to keep her comfortable at home.

“It was the toughest thing I have ever done by far. The angels who work at Rosemere face really challenging situations every single day and they do it with a smile on their face and truly professional care.

“Will is very entrepreneurial and wants to have his own business. He also enjoys building projects, making and growing things as well as swimming. Cancer has hit our family hard and Will was determined to do something positive to help others.”
