A chance to understand how the heritage and conservation work at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery proved a popular choice on the Flag Market.
The Heritage Skills Experience Day allowed people to get up close with contractors working on the Harris restoration.
Stoneworkers Bullen Conservation took people through how stone repairs happen and also took people through working on a ‘dummy piece’ to show their own stonework skills.

Preston Vocational Centre explained the meticulous process of window restoration.
Visitors had the chance to dismantle and re-fix a sash window to experience the craftsmanship involved.
Cabinet member for culture and leisure services at Preston City Council councillor Peter Kelly said: “The Heritage Skills Experience Day was a resounding success, showcasing the rich heritage and craftsmanship.
“Admission to the event was free, welcoming all members of the public to witness heritage skills in action and gain firsthand experience under the guidance of skilled practitioners.”
The Harris is due to re-open during 2024 following a major refurbishment programme.
