A pioneering lung surgeon is among the nominations for a health award.
Dr Mohammed Munavvar is one of those on the shortlist from across dozens of NHS trusts in the Health Service Journal Awards.
Based at Royal Preston Hospital Dr Munavvar is up for Clinical Leader of the Year.

Alongside him is the team behind the Lancashire Teaching Hospital’s lung vision system – nominated in the Modernising Diagnostics Award.
Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board’s chief executive Kevin Lavery said: “It is great to see a wide array of initiatives from across our region among the nominees for the most prestigious awards events in our industry.
“The awards are a great opportunity to recognise the individuals, teams and programmes that have gone above and beyond to improve the experiences of our patients and communities, and I am pleased that through the awards we are able to celebrate the effort, innovative thinking and collaborative working that is shaping the future of healthcare in our region.”
The winners are due to be announced at the awards ceremony on 16 November.
