A South Ribble youth football team have donated their old kits to a team in Kenya.

Leyland Pirates FC sent the sportswear to where the father of one of their players grew up.

Ufuoni Primary School in Chumani, Kilifi district, received the kits thanks to the Pirates’ under-12’s player Jack Bahora-Guyo.

A spokesperson for the Pirates said: “Chumani village is where Jack’s Dad grew up, where his Grandma and lots of his relatives still live. Many of them go to Ufuoni school, or did when they were younger.

“Chumani is on the coast with a beautiful little beach amd there’s no tourism around the village. Chummi is very rural with people farming their own land, owning a few goats, a cow if they’re lucky and drawing water from wells.

“The sports teacher was very grateful and was keen to promote the girls using the kits too. All the children shouted out, ‘Asante Sana’ which means thank you very much. We are so happy that our kits will have a second life in Kenya.”
