A new ‘community hub’ of shops and apartments for Cottam looks set for approval – despite dozens of objections from nearby residents.
Proposals from PWA Planning show the new three-storey building planned for land near Cottam Hall Community Centre in Haydocks Lane.
It would have four shops or takeaways at its base with nine apartments across the first and second floor.

But the proposals have triggered a raft of objections with 72 letters sent in to object to the plans saying it would be an ‘overdevelopment of the site’.
Ingol and Cottam councillor Trevor Hart has also objected to the plans for the new hub, saying it is ‘out of character’ with the site.
Ingol and Tanterton Neighbourhood Council has tabled no objection.

The plans, from Denise Carroll, also received three letters of support and Preston City Council’s planning officers have recommended the scheme fo approval.
Councillors will hear the plans at the next city council planning meeting on Thursday 10 August.
