City of Preston Road Race 2023: Pictures from 5 and 10-miler

Setting off on the City of Preston Road Race

Nearly 250 runners completed the 5-mile and 10-mile City of Preston road race.

The route starting and finishing at Walmer Bridge village hall takes the runners on a road race and nature reserve paths.

Put on by the Central Lancs Running & Triathlon Club the distance run raises money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

All of this year’s finishers took home a new look pink medal.

Michael Brennand from the organising team said: “We see the City of Preston 5 and 10 Mile Road Race as promoting Preston.

“We are proud Prestonians and as Preston is home to Rosemere Cancer Centre, which is one of the most respected centres of its kind nationally and increasingly internationally, we felt it was right to strengthen the link by changing the colour of our medals to a positive pink, which is a colour already
associated with a number of cancer support organisations.”

One of the runners was Penwortham’s Simon Blackburn who has run the 10-mile race each year for the best part of a decade.

During this time Simon has raised more than £10,000 for Rosemere through his sponsorship.
