Miller Park was a sea of red this morning as crowds of dancers and onlookers gathered for Preston’s Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.
The event, organised by Helen Frost, Louise Hoole and Angela Martin, was not only a celebration of Kate Bush’s 1978 hit single it helped to raise money for Lancashire Mind and Preston Domestic Violence Service.
The weather held out as groups of friends gathered by Miller Park’s fountain. 300 people had registered for the event, which was inspired by similar mass participation events that have taken place around the world.
Organiser Helen Frost said, “We are so pleased with the success of the event. The rain held off and people had a great time. We even had people come from as far as Sheffield and Wrexham!”
“People have been really generous in donating to our charities Lancashire Mind and Preston Domestic Violence service which is wonderful!”
The event began with a warm-up, led by professional dancers Sarah Hunter and Toni Walsh, before the crowds were taken through the steps for the chorus and intro.
Then came the main event, the dancers were thoroughly warmed up and ready for the dance. It was wonderful to see so many people taking part. Click here to watch the dance on YouTube.
Lancashire Mind and Preston Domestic Violence Services both attended the event, with people giving donations on the day. There is still time to donate, click the following links to donate to Lancashire Mind and Preston Domestic Violence Service.
