Thunderstorm warning issued for Preston and Lancashire as Storm Oscar nears

A thunderstorm warning has now been issued for Sunday afternoon and evening.

The Met Office has a yellow warning in place for Preston and Lancashire as Storm Oscar’s impact starts to be felt.

Heavy rain and hail are likely to develop ‘in some places’ on Sunday afternoon.

The period of settled warm weather that Preston has been enjoying – uncharicterisatically for the past three weeks or so – will come to an abrupt end.

The warning from the Met Office runs from 12noon to 9pm on Sunday (11 June).

Motorists are warned of difficult driving conditions and there is a small chance of some surface water flooding due to the ground being so dry at present.
