Grimsargh Field Day: Road closures and what’s on and when

Grimsargh Field Day is heading back to the village and closing the main road through.

Preston Road is to be closed from the junction with Whittingham Lane up to the junction with Alston Lane from around 12noon to 2pm on Saturday (24 June).

Whittingham Lane, from the junction with Preston Road, will also be closed for 200m along the side of Grimsargh Green.

The diversion route is listed below

Here’s a run through of what’s on and when at the Field Day.

11.30am – Entries for the Great Grimsargh Bake Off must be in on the field

12.30pm – Process builds up at the village hall

1pm – Procession leaves the village hall

1.30pm – Crowning of the new Rose Queen, certificates for winners of the competitions

2pm – Sambafrique perform

2.30pm – Batala drummers on main stage, Cilla tribute on stage two and a five-a-side football competition on the Green

3pm – Sutcliffe’s School of Dance on main stage, The Inbetweeners ukelele band on stage town

3.15pm – Dog agility

3.30pm – Sutcliffe’s School of Dance on stage two

3.45pm – Dog Show, with categories for cute and adorable, scruffiest mutt, waggiest tail and most obedient as well as overall best in show

3.50pm – Cilla tribute on stage two

4.15pm – Children’s and adult races, egg and spoon and sack race

5pm – Tug of War between The Plough v The Pride of Grimsargh (local youth group)

Throughout the day there will be a funfair, food stalls, craft stalls and a WI tea tent.
