In March 2022, a talk covered a number of scandalous stories linked to Winckley Square.
The event proved so popular that an extra date was added to meet demand.Ā
Now, more research has unveiledĀ moreĀ scandals, and another talk is taking place.
Steve Harrison will present major and minor scandals in an illustrated presentation, putting what happened locally in the context of the wider picture nationally and beyond.Ā
Steveās talk is drawn from the lives of those who lived in the Winckley Quarter encountering issues that still resonate today. The scandals feature sex, violence, poverty, intrigue, double dealing and hypocrisy.

The talk takes place on Monday 22 May at Central Methodist Church in Lune Street. It will start promptly at 7.15pm, with doors opening at 6.45pm.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite, with Ā£4 going to Friends of Winckley Square plus a Ā£1.10 booking fee, or it’s Ā£5 on the door.
The venue has excellent visibility of the screens and a high-quality audio system, and the seats were once in the luxurious Gaumont Cinema.
Refreshments are available in the coffee shop before and after the talk.
