Preston interfaith group’s Ramadan dinner event is a success

Preston interfaith group’s sixth annual Ramadan dinner was a huge success in bringing the local community together including Muslims and non-Muslims.

The theme of Light Foundation’s free event was on ‘The Importance of Community: Turning Strangers into Friends’ – Building Bridges Through Friendship And Understanding.

A spokesperson for the non-profit said: “We would like to sincerely thank everyone from Preston and beyond, who joined us for another hugely successful and jam-packed event, celebrating our 6th Annual Interfaith ‘Iftar’ Dinner

“In the spirit of breaking down barriers and misconceptions about the Islamic faith, we were joined by representatives from all faiths and none.

“Attendees were from the general public, civic and religious leaderships (including political councillors across different respective parties) and key representatives from professional and academic backgrounds, including our emergency services and His Majesty’s Prison Service.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone far and wide, for a hugely successful evening and in particular, to our special guests for their auspicious company.”

  • Imam Irfan Chishti MBE
  • Cllr. Brown – Leader, Preston City Council
  • Cllr. Britcliffe – Chairman, Lancashire county council
  • Roger Baines MBE – Chair LCWF, the neighbourhood watch association for Lancashire
  • Dr. Sakthi Karunanithi – Director of Public Health, Lancashire County Council
  • Andrew Pratt MBE – Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire
  • Chief Inspector Bushell – Lancashire Constabulary
  • Cllr. Neil Darby – Mayor of Preston
  • The Revd Marc Wolverson -Area Dean of Leyland
  • Area Manager Neil Taylor – Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
