A road connecting Fulwood to Grimsargh and Longridge has reopened after 14-weeks.

Haighton Green Lane between D’urton Lane and the section by Haighton Manor was shut by Electricity North West.

Engineers needed to upgrade 1.4 miles of underground cables to help sustain power supplies in the area.

The closure, which began on Monday 13 February, came after stop-start closures to tackle intermittent power cuts in the area.

Haighton Green Lane’s closure sent drivers on a detour along Preston Road and Bluebell Way causing further congestion at peak times.

The closure also impacted the Haighton Manor pub which celebrated the reopening of the road on Saturday 27 May with its Bank Holiday garden party event.
