An Ashton-based fostering service is marking its 25th anniversary with a 25km walk on the Guild Wheel.

Caritas Care has approved 138 foster carers and provided a safe and loving home for almost 300 children and young people over the past quarter of a century.

To celebrate this, a group of fostering team members and foster carers will take on the challenge during Foster Care Fortnight, on Wednesday 17 May.

Leaving their Head Office on Tulketh Road at 9.30am, the group will start the first leg of their walk to Brockholes Nature Reserve where they will stop for lunch before they re-join the path to complete their challenge.

Fostering Service Manager, Rebecca Hughes said, “We’re so proud to have worked with many loving and caring people over the years. It’s fantastic that we are all coming together to enjoy the 25th anniversary of our fostering service.

“We couldn’t have achieved this without the dedication, strength and commitment of everyone involved in the fostering service from the staff to the foster families. Each and every one who has played a part in our journey should be really proud of what we’ve achieved over the years.”

Rebecca added: “As Caritas Care celebrate this amazing milestone, we wanted to take on this challenge to show their respect to all of the families who have opened their homes and their hearts to children.

“Please support the team by giving them a wave and a cheer for the fantastic work they do day in day out to support the county’s most vulnerable children.”

Caritas Care will be holding an online information event on Saturday 20 May at 10am. Visit the Caritas Care website to find out more.
