South Ribble Borough Council has released a statement to clarify any confusion arising on the newly revised parking meters at the car parks in Leyland and Lostock Hall.
A spokesperson for the council said: “We’ve noticed there has been some confusion with our newly revised parking meters at some of our car parks.
“The following car parks now have a One Hour Free Stay on the whole car park, not just in the blue bays: Churchill Way, Sumner Street, Ecroyd Street and King Street, Leyland, Hope Terrace, Lostock Hall.

“One hour is free, but you must obtain a ticket from the machine which shows your vehicle registration, time of arrival and expiry time.
“You cannot then return to your vehicle and pay for further time, as the restrictions state no return within three hours, the machine will not allow you to insert coins.
“If you wish to stay longer than one hour, you will need to pay for parking for the intended length of your stay.
You can see all details of the car parking charges on the South Ribble Borough Council website.
