Preston City Council has received extra funding for the Lancashire Affordable Warmth scheme.
To work around fuel poverty and affordable warmth in low income homes, the council was initially allocated £126,664 in September 2022.
The council’s partner Cosy Homes in Lancashire (CHiL) has already spent over 80k to deliver a range of energy efficiency improvements to eligible households.

On that basis Lancashire County Council has granted an additional sum of £60,000, in order to meet demand from Preston households that do not currently qualify for any other funding options currently being delivered.

Chris Hayward, Director of Development Housing and Preston City Council, said: “This is welcome extra funding under the Affordable Warmth scheme to enable more residents across Preston to access energy efficiency measures within their homes, where they might not have otherwise qualified for previous mainstream funding opportunities.
“Our partner Cosy Homes in Lancashire (CHiL) has already allocated properties on its waiting list for this work to go ahead within the next few months, benefitting many more homes across Preston.”
