A new childcare nursery will open its door early after being granted registration by Ofsted on the Early Years Register.
The Mericourt Nursery in Sandyforth Lane between Cottam and Fulwood, was once a residential site.
It has now been redeveloped into an educational facility that will provide holistic care and development opportunities in a natural setting for babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers, opening from Tuesday 11 April.

Barkha Rani, owner of The Mericourt Nursery said: “We received fantastic response to our open day last week and are now registering children from 0-5 years for the Summer Term.
“Our setting has taken eight months to build after we received planning permission to renovate the residence which came with really generous outdoor areas.
“The setting has been designed to provide plenty of exciting space internally for children to explore, play and learn.
“We have plans to develop the outdoors further and shall be involving the parent community to generate ideas for the space.
The nursery has been approved to provide 57 places which will be raised further once the decoration of the outdoor areas has been completed over the summer.

Barkha continued on: “We are proud of the setting and the meticulous planning and execution it has taken to complete the renovation especially at a time when nursery places have become limited and new communities and houses have come up in the Cottam, Bartle, Broughton and Woodplumpton areas.
“We see our endeavour as a massive part of the national drive to help parents back to work by providing them cost effective child care solutions, where they can have the confidence that their child is being looked after by experienced professionals in a setting that is designed to provide them with excellent indoor and outdoor areas to explore, play and learn.”
