Ribbleton takeaway Spice King is preparing to launch a hot sauce challenge.
Owner Adam Sayid decided to create the challenge after making increasingly hot sauces for in-house pranks.
Adam said: “Quite soon after Spice King was established in 2011, a mischievous pair – customer Pete Moss and delivery driver Brian Reid – started requesting extremely spicy sauces to burn each others mouths. As head chef it challenged me to create hotter and hotter sauces for them.
“I then started using my hot sauces to secretly ‘burn’ the rest of the staff by mixing it into their curries for a laugh. This has been good fun over the years, so now I am extending this spicy happiness to the rest of Preston.”
For the official #spicekinghotsauce challenge Adam is cooking up three levels of sauce intensity.
To take part, challengers will have to record themselves going through all three levels without consuming anything else for three minutes, while keeping a straight face.
Adam added: “Our sauces are still being brewed to perfection and will be available from April. The exact date will be announced on Spice King’s Facebook page.”
