Developers Paul Butler Associates are putting forward the next steps into the redevelopment and conversion of the former Park Hotel and 8 East Cliff into residential apartments.

They will do this by presenting the latest proposals and answering any queries people might have via a public consultation event in Preston city centre.

Together with DAY Architectural they aim to bring the plans including the development of two new apartment buildings on the application site in the Avenham Conservation Area to life on behalf of the Heaton Group.

The former Park Hotel building was once planned to return to its original Victorian use as a 156-bedroom four star hotel.

For future residents the development will have ‘high quality amenities’ including a: gym, co-working and cafe space, garden areas and roof terraces.

The scheme will be in an ‘accessible’ location next to Preston Railway Station, with bus links, and easy access to Preston City Centre. If plans are approved cycle storage and electric vehicle charging will also be provided.

The developers say the scheme will provide significant benefits, by utilising the heritage assets that have been vacant for a period of time, falling into disrepair.

The repair and sensitive conversion of the landmark buildings is said to secure its long-term future.

A spokesperson for Paul Butler Associates said: “The works to the Park Hotel and 8 East Cliff will also have a positive impact on the character and appearance of the Avenham Conservation Area and the site’s surroundings.

“We are in the process of developing the scheme proposals and are aiming to submit a planning application in the near future.”

A drop-in public consultation will take place on Tuesday 14 March, to present the proposals, answer any queries that people have and provide people with the opportunity to leave feedback.

The event will take place at The Brew and Bake Cafe, Bishopsgate in Ormskirk Road, between 5pm and 7pm.

Afterwards the scheme will be submitted to Preston City Council.
