Concerns have been raised over the reduction of litterbins across the city, which are constantly under review of Preston City Council.
A reader contacted Blog Preston to express how more rubbish bins are needed, more so around bus stops.
They said: “Why are Preston council slowly getting rid of rubbish bins especially around bus stops especially Hartington Road I have noticed, do they want rubbish on the streets or in the bin.”

A Preston City Council spokesperson responded to the concerns and said: “We can confirm that we are not implementing a scheme to reduce litter bins in any area of Preston, in fact the number is increasing.
“The placement of litterbins is constantly under review and therefore some bins do get re-located due to effectiveness.
“Also, many are now looking tired or in need of replacement due to wear and tear or vandalism.
“Any bins that have been identified as damaged may have been removed and will be replaced with a new bin in due course.
“It is also worth noting that occasionally building developers or Lancashire County Council may temporarily remove litter bins if there is any ongoing work in the area.”
